Fortune Favours the Brave Let's try Blogging

Well, here goes with creating my first page in my blog.
I must say that seeing Chris Lovegroves' blog ("E Learning") grow and build is direct evidence of building knowledge through "Application".
"Applied Technology": helping to build new knowledge through new experiences.
Hmmm! Sounds familiar aye?

For many of you the experience of building your Tool Boxes has been a new experience.
Not so scary once you get involved, is it?
The secret to building on that new experience is the process of recording and analysing your experiences.
This is where a Blog may be a very helpful environment and tool to facilitate this need.

Oh!  What does' BLOG' stand for?

It's short for "WEB LOG"

A "Log" is a term known by mariners the world over, as a 'record' of the experiences and activities around the life of a vessel, And also as a term relating to the 'speed' and 'distance' travelled by a vessel.
The log may often includes reflections from  the captain. He may choose to include events, navigational record, weather, actions and behaviours, lists etc... The point being it is not just a record. It may often be subjective in nature as it is written by the captain and is therefore his view of shipboard life.
Anyone unsure of the value of a Log should perhaps read one.
I'd suggest Captain James Cooks' Log from "HMS Endeavour" as a good insight as to how a traditional naval Log was used.
Modern ships logs may be developed in a different medium (e.g. electronic records) but the substance is much the same.

I think we may find a 'Blog' is also a good medium to develop a "Portfolio of Evidence" (just an edited Log really) around our course topics and a good way of viewing the learning outcomes as they are realised in an interactive and transparent way.

Let's look at how we might start to build our first blog.
Below is a link that helps direct us newbies through the process of building your first Blog

Have fun with it.
Over the next few weeks we will communicate through your Blog posts frequently,
and possibly look at other collaborative /societal devices we may employ.
