Embedding Video

embedding video into our blog.
  1. How can we do it?
  2. As a link?
  3. As an upload?
  4. Do we need to import a player first?
NOTE: To access any Blog post editor click on the pencil symbol at the bottom of the Blog.

1.     The below video is inserted using the editor in this blog, just use the insert video tool within the text editor.
   2.         A more reliable method of inserting video: The steps are to find the URL address of an online video (or upload a video to youtube or flicker) and when editing your blog page change to HTML tab (the URL address is written in HTML) Copy and paste the URL where you want it and preview. Publish if OK.

3.    The following link was simply done with a copy/paste from the youtube http address.

          4.     NOTE: I have had troubles trying to use the insert video button in the blog editor. I've tried inserting video from my own computer, many of the youtube tutorials seem to show a different editor for "blogger" than the one in this blog. (The"insert video" button symbol is different and the window opening from the insert video button is also quite different and more complex)
I wonder if there is a newer version of blogger that I need to update to?
I'll keep you posted.

5.     It would appear we don't need to import a player to insert video into a blog. it comes in with the URL.

Check out the following link that updates the Blog editor function and allows more tools to do things. (helps with "inserting" function.

There is a fear (not unfounded from my perspective) that once we place (in-house) video items on "Youtube" we are effectively giving our work to the world. We are also allowing others to use our resources freely. Using other peoples stuff from "Youtube" could also create confusion over intellectual property writes, plagiarism, and copy writes. One way to avoid this is to register with "Teachertube". This site allows uploading of video that is then checked to evaluate these issues. If it is cleared through the checking process we may use it with impunity. It does however take some time for the checks to be processed. (typically 24 hours). In house video uploaded to "Teachertube" is deemed usable by any educationalist worldwide.
